Cooperation With the Professional Community (CPC)
Overview
The Cooperation With the Professional Community (CPC) Committee helps Area 26 of Alcoholics Anonymous build and maintain productive relationships with professionals who interact with people affected by alcoholism, such as healthcare providers, behavioral health clinicians, employee assistance programs (EAPs), clergy, corrections staff, educators, and social service organizations.
CPC’s purpose is to improve understanding of what A.A. is (and what it is not), and to make it easier for professionals and community partners to connect individuals with A.A. resources, while protecting A.A.’s traditions of anonymity and non-affiliation.
What CPC Does
The CPC Committee supports A.A.’s primary purpose by:
- Providing accurate information about A.A. to professional audiences and community partners
- Responding to requests for A.A. presentations and informational sessions (in-person or virtual, as available)
- Connecting professionals with local A.A. resources (meeting information, general service contacts, literature)
- Helping A.A. members understand CPC service work, including how we interact with professionals appropriately
- Supporting trusted servants who represent A.A. to the professional community in line with A.A. Traditions
